This year’s gathering of classical colleagues will be devoted to a single, overarching theme: How can stations, networks, and public media service organizations work together to strengthen classical music radio?   Classical music is public radio’s most successful music format, dominating both all-music and news-music mixed- formats, yet it remains poorly represented in the national arena. In this session, we’ll “report out” on “The Houston Summit,” a May 2013 gathering of classical stations and interested parties that asked the hard questions and took a clear-eyed look at the state of the classical music radio industry, as well as its relations with funding, content, service, and research organizations both inside and outside of public media. We promise a lively and robust discussion.
