Evolution of the PD

The job of the program director is evolving and growing as radio stations expand to new platforms. PRPD has firmly established that the PD is the guardian of the content and "sound" of the radio station and in the digital age, this role expands to become a content responsibility for all the platforms where the audience encounters the station. At small, medium and large stations in the system, some PDs are beginning to embrace this larger content responsibility, and they're finding this brings a mix of opportunities and frustrations. In this session, three PDs from the PRPD Board, who have broad content responsibilities at their stations, will discuss their challenges and successes, how they prioritize their responsibilities and how they have restructured their operations.
