Phil Redo is general manager for WGBH Radio, Boston – over News/Talk WGBH, News/Talk WCAI (Cape Cod ) and Classical WCRB. He oversees local editorial contributions to WGBH co-productions, including PRI’s The World and The Takeaway. Local television programs, Greater Boston with Emily Rooney and Basic Black, also report to him. His 35-year public and commercial career includes running major market radio stations in New York, Chicago and Boston. He was vice president for Programming and Production for Premiere Radio Networks in New York City. Prior to joining WGBH, he managed Greater Media’s 5-FM station cluster in Boston. His experience includes five years as vice president Station Operations & Corporate Strategy at WNYC AM/FM. His on-air experience includes news, talk and music hosting. He was Billboard magazine’s 1978 Air Personality of the Year, and Radio Inc magazine’s top Major Market general manager for three years, 2007-2009. He is a painter and a sailor.
