Tanya Ott is Georgia Public Broadcasting’s vice president of Radio. Prior to joining GPB, Ott spent 24 years as an award-winning journalist and news manager at public radio stations in Florida (WUFT-FM/Gainesville), Colorado (Colorado Public Radio/Denver) and Alabama (WBHM-FM/Birmingham). She reported extensively for national and international news organizations including NPR, Marketplace, the British Broadcasting Company (BBC), the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Deutsche Welle, the Osgood File, Voice of America, AARP Radio, American Composers’ Forum, and others. Ott has trained journalists and radio programmers at more than 100 public media stations through her work with PRPD’s
Morning Edition Grad School (MEGS) and the PRNDI
NewsWorks program. Ott has helped shape some of the top public media research projects including the Editorial Integrity in Public Media project, The PRPD Core Values of News, Localism and Morning Edition, and the Association of Independents in Radio Code of Fair Practices and Freelancer Salary Survey.
